Any color you like

Pick a palette, or let Rimlight pull colors straight from the album art playing right now.

Move, or stay still

Let the light travel around the frame with the beat, or lock it in place for a calm, steady wash.

Dial the glow

From a whisper of light behind the bezel to a full room-filling bloom — it's one slider.

Set the thickness

A hairline rim or a wide gradient halo. Adjust per display, and Rimlight remembers.

Match the album

Rimlight reads the track playing in Apple Music or Spotify and pulls the two dominant colors straight from its cover art — no screen recording needed.

Know what's playing

Rimlight reads the current track straight from Apple Music and Spotify and shows it right in the app — cover artwork, title, artist and elapsed time, updating as the song moves.

The transport controls actually work: skip to the previous track, play or pause, jump to the next one, and drag the scrubber to seek anywhere in the song. None of it requires screen recording.

Install in five steps

  1. 1

    Download the app

Grab the .dmg for Mac or the installer for Windows.

  2. 2

    Move to Applications

On Mac, drag it into Applications. On Windows, run the setup and follow the prompts.

  3. 3

    Open & allow system audio

Music sync is off until you turn it on. Switch it on and macOS asks for Screen & System Audio Recording — that permission is the only way macOS exposes system audio. Windows needs no permission, and Rimlight never touches your microphone.

  4. 4

    Right-click → Open

The builds are unsigned, so macOS asks once (right-click → Open) and Windows may show a SmartScreen notice (More info → Run anyway).

  5. 5

    Press play

Start a song and watch your screen edges come alive.
